Plastic Bank is a social enterprise company founded and based in Vancouver, British Columbia with operations worldwide. Plastic Bank has built recycling ecosystems in under-developed communities across the Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, and Egypt in an effort to fight both plastic pollution, as well as high poverty levels.
Through social recycling, members exchange plastic waste as currency at local Plastic Bank branches for bonuses and secure income that help provide basic family necessities. By offering safe, secure, and traceable sources of income, we’re empowering communities in vulnerable areas with a path out of poverty. Collected plastic is recycled and reborn as Social Plastic® feedstock and used in the production of products and packaging – thus helping create new life for old plastic.

Vive has been working alongside Plastic Bank’s communications team for social media management and content creation since October 2020. Our goal has been to continually evolve the organization's social media presence and improve visibility of Plastic Bank’s initiatives to reach like-minded audiences worldwide. We developed organic social media strategies to resonate with B2B and B2C audiences and over time, have increased cadence on all platforms to improve reach and following. Through quality content creation and visual strategy, Plastic Bank social accounts continue to represent a touchpoint for concerned world-citizens looking to make a difference in the world.

Plastic Bank has celebrated many milestones, most notably the Billion Bottle Campaign. In 2021, Plastic Bank celebrated their 1 billionth bottle stopped from reaching the ocean. This momentous occasion was celebrated and achieved by corporate partners, collection community members, vendors, and staff worldwide. Vive was tasked to amplify this significant goal across social media with a dedicated campaign celebrating this remarkable achievement with key content pieces explaining Plastic Bank’s process and journey thus far.
To accomplish this, Vive, in tandem with Plastic Bank’s communications team, created a social media strategy which incorporated specific content pillars celebrating the accomplishments of each of the countries as well as educational pieces to further amplify Plastic Bank in their field. In January 2022, Plastic Bank achieved their 2 Billion Bottle goal.
